Big XII Basketball Championship

Of course, the reason the month of March is the best time of year, besides my birthday and our anniversary, is March Madness! Heidi's office, Brian Clark Associates, bought a block of tickets for the Big XII Tournament and Heidi and I were lucky enough to get the tickets for the championship game, KU vs Texas. This week was pretty exciting because it marked the grand opening of the Kansas City Power and Light District, the new entertainment district in downtown Kansas City.

The game was also the first event that we've attended in the new Sprint Center and we had a great time. KU won the game, which was close until the final minute or two, but Texas had 2 of the best guards that I have seen play in a long time, D.J. Augustin and A.J. Abrams. Unfortunately, Iowa State did not have as good a showing as hoped, but we at least we got to see 2 great teams play. BRING ON AN NCAA REGIONAL GAME!!

Birthday dinner at Krause Dining

To celebrate my 34th birthday, and also our 6th wedding anniversary, Heidi made reserevations at Krause Dining, in Lawrence, KS. A quick history of the place...the owner started the restaurant with his wife out of their home in East Lawrence, which had a new addition by local architect Dan Rockhill. Word got out of this "underground" eating establishment, most notably in the Kansas City Star, and the City of Lawrence Health Department shut him down. He moved to a small building a few blocks away, which is where we first experienced Krause Dining (with our good friends the Kersley's). A few years later, and i'm sure many meetings with the City of Lawrence, the Krause's were allowed to move the restaurant back to their home. Needless to say, the dinner was amazing, and hopefully we'll get to go back soon! Not a bad way to celebrate 34 years , 6 years with the love of your life!
