we're back!

last week i entered a contest to win a new bike. the small print told me that if i won, i'd be required to blog about life with my new bike. i'm guessing they checked the performance of foodiesinkc and thought better of relying on me for regular blog updates.

there is a severe heat advisory in effect so i'll do as the radio says and wear light colored clothing, stay indoors, drink plenty of water (infused with coffee beans) and catch up on the blog.

another month has come and gone and we marked the beginning of what promises to be a very hot august with a night out at First Fridays. we sampled small plates at JP's wine bar before heading over to Christopher Elbow's to sample a few chocolates. the highlight of the evening was a stop at KAT Clothing, a new store open in the Crossroads and owned by our friend Kate Rauber O'Neil. Kate is 6'2" and her store specializes in tall women's clothing--her style is fabulous and we wish her great success!

we gutted through a super sweaty run Saturday morning but got a chance to rest our aching legs last night while relaxing with friends and enjoying a barbeque on Terry and Shannan's deck. with a fan outside to create a breeze, it was actually very pleasant outside despite the 100+ heat index!

i am no longer needed for weekly trips to des moines so i'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things as a full time kansas city resident!
